My humble opinions and advices in particular about Africa, in general about traveling: Go to Africa. People are friendly, helpful, respectful and kind. Cheerful and peaceful in the regions where civil war is not much experienced. Local transportations “Chicken buses” are a legend. It is exhausting but every minute is another adventure and entertainment. You will have the most colorful, interesting and satisfying experiences of your life on these journeys. Africa is an expensive travel destination. The accommodation facilities and parks serve over the dollar and euro and do not have the standard as in the Western countries. The fact that 99 percent of the products in the markets are imported is also an expensive travel destination. The cheapest way to travel around the world is by hitchhiking, cycling, motorbike or renting a car with at least two people. But it should be very cautious if it is to be…

NAMIBIA I am at the Oshikango border gate at 7:00 in the morning. I come to the office when the officers come in and start to work. According to the information at the site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, all Turkish citizens are exempted from visa. In a few minutes I pass the border, find a minibus, go to the nearest settlement to the Etosha National Park, spend the night there, enter the park the next day… I think, but it is not … Of course, the officer says I need the visa. “No, no.” “Yes.” “No, I checked before I came.” “I can not let you go.” “I do not need the visa.” The manager calls Elizabeth after a long period of assertion. They are investigating, discussing, making phone calls. The answer does not change. “You need to go back to Angola. Find it on the visa application…

ANGOLA 2 “Why nobody write Angola?” Could it be because nobody came? I am in a country where people are still afraid to go because they have been closed to the world because of the civil war which is close to 30 years old. It was one of the reasons that attracted me because it was not touristy, even if it was a painful cause, and that it did not undergo degeneration brought by tourism. On the south coast of the country is a small domestic tourism issue. Those who come to this region are mostly foreigners, rich locals and business people working in Luanda. 95 percent of the people do not have the economic power to think about traveling. The country is rich in oil, natural gas and gemstone. The terrains are efficient and plenty of water. There is no production in the area that can produce crops 4…

LUANDA I got stuck in the capital of Angola, where I arrived on June 4th. I need to rent a vehicle or join a group to go to Kissama Game Park, Calandula Falls, Kwanza River, Miradouro de Lua which I want to see around Luanda. There is not any public transport. I just have to wait for the tour to be arranged on the weekend because it is not economically possible to rent a car. The civil war, which lasted for 27 years and caused 500,000 people to die, was finished in 2002, but its tracks were not erased. It is trying to live with a very small but very rich minority and a very poor mass. I have seen so many luxury jeeps such as in the USA only. I see so many poor neighborhoods here. The tinned streets built on the garbage mountains are scattered all over Luanda.…

How Go to Angola I am in Lusaka the capital of Zambia. I have to enter to Angola no later than 5 June. The visa I have received in Ankara is valid for 2 months and the entry into Angola is required within 2 months from the date of visa issuance. It can stayed for 30 days after log in. There is not enough information on the internet regarding road status, entrance doors, etc. That’s why I went to the Angola Embassy in Lusaka and got information from the first word. Entries from Zambia into Angola: The border gate on Mwinilunga via Solwezi: Not recommended because the road on Angola is bad. The border gate near Mongu: This was also not recommended because the road on Angola was bad. Entrances from Namibia to Angola: Moving from Zambia to Livingstone to Namibia. The first border gate to Angola is in Rundu…

May 19, 2017 I flew from Istanbul to Cape Town on April 19th. A month like a day … At the moment I am writing this article in a village of Zimbabwe under the stars. The people I met two days ago are chatting and laughing at a language I do not understand. Would I ever have guessed? Yes, I would. Because my mind was always around. There are wood fire, a cooker on top of it, a chicken that lived an hour earlier on the oven, four small children gathered around them… These children watch the fire instead of watching television or phone, listening to the conversation of the elders. Monthly Impression: Come to Africa. People are very friendly, helpful, respectful. They are cheerful and peaceful in the regions where civil war is not much experienced. Local public transports are legends. It is exhausting but every minute a separate…

KEWIE MISAFU THE WATCHMAN -Mom, what happened to my dad? -The lion has eaten your dad, my dear! Kewie Misafu is a “watchman” who is the father of 7 children and were born in 1968 who works at the safari camp. Watchman’s task is to ensure camp safety for 24 hours. They are guarding at various points in the camp when the weather strikes around in the daytime. They alert the visitors to retreat when the darkness of their hands scans the darkness and becomes a dangerous approach. Sometimes hypos and elephants go in and out of the camp. Although they seem calm and harmless, they are very dangerous and the employees are very cautious. We even left the tables on the outside a few times and entered the restaurant. It’s a great feeling to be able to see the animals that I watch the documentaries so closely. I sat…

LUSAKA “Meet my family” Zambia’s capital city Lusaka is a typical African capital. A few tall buildings in the center and a busy and lively city on the other side. After we leave David to his hotel, we go to the bazaar for my sake. Lusaka City Market, Soweto Market, New Soweto Market. It is definitely must seen. Tailor, repressor, overlocker, fruit vegetables, dried fish, clothes, electronics, repairers… I try to stay as short time as possible in big cities. I have to take a small city tour and run to the markets immediately if I have to pause or stay. The complexity and diversity around here is very attractive. I come across the dried black tree worm, which I have seen before as dried. I tried to eat from goat meat, which was grilled and sold at an edge of the market. Jonathan says that this meat is “unhealthy,…

MANA POOL NP (National Park) There is no one but a couple from Cape Town as a guest. Trichelia Private Camp is quite luxurious. I’m here by accident entirely. It’s on the edge of the Zambezi river. The opposite shore is Zambia. Nature is spectacular. There are hippopotamus, elephants. 3 meals, drinks, $ 400 a day with two safari daily. I got my food from the market in Kariba. I will only pay for the safari and accommodation. This is an affordable accommodation option in the park if you have a tent and your own vehicle. The couple in Cape Town saw 3 lions in safari. I have been awaken at 5 in the morning, we are on the road hoping to see a lion with Kenyan Jim of Scottish origin guiding safari for 40 years. Elephant, impala, zebra … We can not see the lion. Jim was attacked by…

LYNCHING INITIATIVE We are taking a break in Karoi. The co-pilot says to me: “Wait here with the other passengers, we will go one place and ten minutes later the bus will be here.” There are peddlers, restaurants, shopping people in the land areas on both sides of the main road. I buy avocado and make it slices, honey sells. I’m opening the honey lid. There are bees in it. I’m looking at it. It’s alike, but I’m not sure. They may have bee in it because sugar seems to be boiling and realistic. I pour a little bit into the avocado and eat it with a spoon. It was beautiful. As a mobile dealer moves around, a baby is caught in a box. I try to make the baby laugh, but it’s serious. I think it’s the first time he has seen a white-skinned person. I hope he is…
